Credible information gathered by ghanafilla.com reveals that Hiplife artiste, Nana Kontihene, known in real life as Emmanuel Nana Appiah Boateng is not a pastor as it was said some few months since he has been spotted in night clubs and also recently in some studios in UK .
According to a close source, the “Akatesia” hit maker has is still in the rap game and about to release a hiplife single which was recorded in the UK by one of the youngest sound engineer Rudeboi Daproduca. The source disclosed to ghanafilla.com indicates that, he is about to officially launch the song online soon.
Whiles in the States, Kontihene released an all Star Hiplife gospel medley album titled ‘Nyankonton All Star Gospel Medley which featured; Kofi B, Samini, Ekow Shailo, Castro, Nana Quame, PV (Wutah), Kontihene, Lucky Mensah, Bright (Buk Bak) and others who teamed up to sing a medley of popular Ghanaian worship songs with bonus tracks from gospel singers; Cindy Thompson, OJ, Pack Williams and others.
Kontihene grew up in Kumasi, and attended Martyrs of Uganda and Opoku Ware Secondary School (Akatakyie). He learnt to play the piano at a very young age and can play the saxophone as well. He adopted the name “Kontihene” (A title given to the money chief or sika hene in Akan Traditional circles) as his stage name before he released his first album.
He helped introduce jama into Ghanaian music circles through his debut hit, ‘Aketesea’. It subsequently won him Ghana’s best song of 2002 at the 2003 Ghana Music Awards and “Nyankonton” was hailed as one of the best hiplife albums. He is believed to be the first hiplife artiste to be featured by Kojo Antwi on his ‘Me die ne woa’ song (Densu album) and Mr. Music man helped him record his second album “Nsoroma”.
He also discovered highlife singer, Kwabena Kwabena, produced and managed Kwabena Kwabena’s maiden “Aso” album. Some of his popular songs include Effeh, M’adamfo pa beko, Adaadaa, Adwoa, Migizigi, Nkomo de, Rekpete, Nana wo hene, Africa Mama, Beverly, Gyina pintinn, Poppy, and Okwaadonto.
