IS IT ONLY SLIM LADIES WHO CAN BE MODELS? NOT THIS AUDITION: EXCEL Production to the Rescue

We live in a part of the world where our definition of true beauty is what our culture accepts to be the norm. Before the West through various media came to impose their sense of  beauty and ideal woman to us, the African beauty was not what Ghanaian Hiplife Star, Tic Tac called the Chigilingi  lady: She was the large and lovely sweet heart of a responsible woman who was very respected in the community.  With their imposition came myths that only slim women were ideal for beauty pageants, models and others making our large and lovely women lose their sense of  true identity.  Well, that notion is already under attack through the efforts of a Model agency named EXCEL  Production Ghana Ltd: They are hosting auditions in Accra, Ghana on July 7 at the Excel’s office opposite the  Nogahill Hotel, towards selecting ideal PLUS candidates for their Season 3 edition of EXCEL PLUS Pageant.

With a previous pageant that the winner went home with a brand new car, our able correspondent, Daasebre Adansi-Prekese had an interview with some senior staff of the host company and here is the summary of  WHO they are:

Excel Productions Ghana Ltd is a production house that seeks to give Plus Size ladies the opportunity to compete in a professional friendly way, to exhibit their talents and also to boost their self esteem. It is a reality pageant that houses 20 Plus Size ladies from size 14 and above and aged between 18 to 40. It is the vision of Excel Production to see Plus Size ladies come out of their shells to show the world their potentials as active responsible women who have the artistic flair, the cultural know-how and the brains to rub shoulders in the world of pageants . The main objective of the show is to educate the ladies on living a sustainable  healthy lifestyle that will help them prevent opportunistic diseases associated with obesity.

The addition this year is that the show is going to be career oriented in that the talent the lady brings to the house will be sharpened and packaged to benefit herself and the nation. The selected ladies will be visiting interesting places like  Busua beach resort , have time with the needy, family and friends, play outdoor games, meet the previous stars and perform with them.

The programme will air on GTV and is proudly sponsored by Capital O2 and supported by Customer Company Ltd, Printex and Black Pool Multimedia.
